IL DOLCIMELO is a medieval music group made up of professional musicians, students, singers and choristers with a particular interest in the Renaissance and early Baroque. Group objectives include recreating and promoting the musical sounds of the past with historical accuracy – both in terms of the repertoire and interpretation and in the playing of instruments appropriate to the era – while never forgetting that their work is to be heard by a 21st century audience.
In recent years, a performance program has been built up around a model linking music with excerpts from Portuguese literature of the same period and seeking also to include whenever possible examples of the wonderful iconographic artistic legacy of the 16th and 17th centuries.
