DUO BADINERIE – SOUNDS OF THE ORIENT
SUMMER CONCERTS (June to September, every second Friday)
Vasco Gouveia (flute), Dejan Ivanovic (guitar)
Sounds of the Orient – a voyage that takes us from India to Japan via Korea and ending in search of an eternal divinity.
The Duo Badinerie began their professional activity in January 2001. Both are teachers at the FMAC Music School in Lisbon and, in addition to their individual careers, have set out to create a new dimension to their art: a delicate duet, gentle and with an angelic sound: flute & guitar! In a short period of time, the pair debuted their colourful sounds across Portugal to an impressive reaction from both critics and the public. The search for an ideal sound demands a thorough knowledge of work commissioned for duos. Correspondingly, the Badinerie repertoire is vast and covers a broad swathe of 300 years of musical creativity from across the globe. Bach, Giuliani, Piazzolla, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Beaser, Liebermann, Takemitsu, Eastwood and Koshkin all feature among composers handled with due care and respect for the original intentions and with great enthusiasm for the art of musical narrative.
