Discover the charms of this ageless art, gain an understanding as to its evolution and learn the basic techniques involved in mastering the brush and the paint and explore the works of historical calligraphers.
A work of calligraphy, with the perfection of its strokes, the correspondence between the elements making up a character, the balance and symmetry in the lay out of its structure, the contrast between the various compositional factors blending concept, thought, spirit as well as the style of the individual calligrapher, produces a very special aesthetic sensation.
Over the course of 5,000 years of Chinese civilisation, writing became a unique art due to its pictographic characteristics. Traditionally, the characters are traced with very specific writing material and instruments such as Chinese brush and ink on paper purpose manufactured from the roots of certain trees, bamboo, rice husk, some silk fibres and cotton.
