Making her debut in Portugal, the Museu do Oriente is honoured to welcome Sónia Shirsat, the greatest fado singer of India, and her World of Fado show.

The performance features a repertoire that extends beyond fado to include Indian and Goan music and counts on the special participation of António Chainho, on Portuguese guitar, and Manuel Leão, on sitar.
Sónia Shirsat is further accompanied by Eduardo Rodrigues, on Portuguese guitar and Tiago Oliveira, on fado viola. The event tours the various musical influences of Sónia in the company of the EKVAT group, providing choral and dance support.

Sónia Shirsat, a voice from the East with a Portuguese soul, is yet further proof that fado knows no borders. Born in Goa, she began singing in public at the age of seven while fado, present in her family throughout over two generations, has always been an enormous formative influence in her music.

In 2003, on the invitation of the Fundação Oriente, she made her first public fado performance and has been in constant demand ever since. Later, she had the opportunity to appear alongside António Chainho who swiftly understood the depth of her talents.

She regularly takes the stage at the Cidade de Goa Hotel, in Pangim.
