Furoshiki is the Japanese expression for the design of a piece of cloth used to wrap and carry clothes, presents and the classic bento (lunch). It may be plain or painted with its size also subject to variation. Each family gets the opportunity to discover the traditions behind these classical wraps and find their own original way of reinventing them. In Japan, this art of wrapping (tsutumu) shows us how on occasion the packaging may sometimes supplant the contents.
