On this special occasion for the female gender, World Women’s Day, we commemorate the Festival of Dolls (Hina-Matsuri), which is a traditional Japanese festival taking place on 3 March (the third day of the third month). Firstly, our princesses get introduced to the notion of a festival so that later on they can re-enact it. This truly magical festive event is also in homage to the emperor and empress placed on a symbolical altar and their blessing graces the future of all young females.

Design and Supervision: Maria Helena Castro, member of Japan Net. For the last nine years, she has dedicated herself to drawing up the inventory, studying and classifying the traditional Japanese dolls making up the Beatriz Martins Janeira Collection, donated to the Museum of Toys, in Sintra.
